Re: [Angenieux] zoom 18-180mm / Monture?

I have used such a lens on my then olympus 3/4 camera. It has a lever for introducing a "barlow" type extender in the light path, and with this in there is no vignetting and a phenomenal zoom range. The B4 lenses are intended for "ENG"(external news gathering), early mobile TVbroadcast cameras. Sonys ENGs used prisms to split the lioght path so that three different sensors could pick RGB colours. This might mean that this lens had corrections adapted to passing through more glass after leaving the main objective, but I did not notice any such faults (possibly because the 3/4 cameras have a thick stack of glass in front of the sensors). Theoretically the focus should be modified according to the thickness of a Plane-parallell sheet of gtass and the dispersion of the materieal shouold also play a role. The Angenieux zoom also had a small adjustmet knob that seemed to move part of the Objective, and twiddling this made the picture sharper. Altogether a heavy and complicated device for someone who does not make films, so I gave it away .
