Chronology of cameras Belomo

The Vilia and Siluet are members of the same family. They were manufactured in the former USSR, which has since become Belarus. The factory was located in Minsk.

The Vilia is a simple camera, without a light meter, in the same spirit as the Smena Symbol. Everything is straightforward and robust.
It was sold for 23 rubles in a soft case or 25 rubles in a very sturdy leather case. Some units have an accessory shoe screwed onto the top, while others have a molded top incorporating the accessory shoe. The Vilia lacks a light meter but features an ingenious exposure system. The film speed is set in GOST or ASA by selecting the shutter speed from the same number: 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, or 1/250. The aperture is then selected by a small lever under the lens, calibrated from 4 to 16. This, in turn, moves a large white dot under a series of weather symbols in the viewfinder. The photographer can adjust the aperture based on weather conditions while looking through the viewfinder. The shutter also has a B setting.
The lens is treated for color and identified simply as a triplet (3 lenses) of type 69-3. It appears to be an improved version of the T43 used on some Smena cameras (starting with the Smena 6) manufactured by LOMO in Leningrad. The lens barrel has a 46mm filter thread (0.75mm pitch) that would accept a wide range of accessories. The film counter is located on the base.

The Vilia-Auto is the version with a selenium light meter.

The Siluet Elektro is the version with a CdS cell.
