Chronology of cameras SFOM
The SFOM, or Société Française d’Optique et de Mécanique, was originally located in Rueil-Malmaison but relocated to Pau during the Occupation. It was there that a small team designed and produced a compact camera using 9.5mm unperforated film for the special services of the military (see the spy camera).
After the war, the company introduced the Sfomax for the civilian market. They also supplied cameras for aerial reconnaissance.
Le "Sfomflex" est un appareil à destination scientifique, mais dont l’utilisation reste mystérieuse. Le champ couvert est un cercle d’environ 3 cm de diamètre situé à 9 centimètres de l’objectif... Neuf petites lampes fournissent un éclairage annulaire.
La monture est à baïonnette avec serrage par la bague externe. Le verre de visée, un ménisque concavo-convexe dépoli, est amovible et devait pouvoir être remplacé par un système de mesure de la lumière (?).
L'obturateur à rideau en toile a une gamme de vitesses étrange : 10 14 18 en rouge, et 35 45 50 en noir.
Le négatif fait 24 mm x 24 mm.
