Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex I

Traduction de Manuel M

The first dual lens reflex camera Zeiss Ikon come out in 1934 and bears, it also, the reference 850/16. It is called “coffee can” because of its shape of coffee box of the time.
After appeared in 1936, the Ikoflex II (851/16), then our model, as from 1938 until 1951. It will bear the name of Ikoflex I (850/16). For the case, German rationalism is not obvious!
And it is not finished because the range of Ikoflex is complex (I, IA, IB, IC, II, III, IIA, Favorit) with modifications of design!

Here what the “advertizing agents” Zeiss Ikon said in 1939:

“Reflex camera with two lenses.

The problem of the focusing, capital in photography, was solved in this camera in the most exact way and simplest at the same time: the image of the subject is considered in the final dimensions 6x6 cm. on a glass ground whose lower surface is bent; this device confers on the image of centring a remarkable brightness until the field angles.
The focusing can be controlled until the precise moment of release, which makes it possible to avoid any defect of neatness.

The lens of taking and the lens of centring are coupled, have the same focal distance and embrace an identical field.
The phenomena of parallax is completely removed.

The central part of the front side before the cap can fold back itself and constitutes a frame viewfinder.

The lens of taking is provided with scale of distance and depth of field.

A table of pose is engraved on one of the sides of the cap.

The not sheathed external parts are chrome.

An exposure counte with opaque window and completely tight with the light indicates the number of exposed clichés.
