Launched in 1936, to do better than Leitz and its Leica!
It has an enormous telemetric basis of 90 mm. Its standard lens was a Sonar 1,5/50 mm.
The Contax II is the successor of Contax I with a vertical roller-blind shutter to the 1/1250 second, a viewfinder with magnification 0.75, combined with the rangefinder, on an unique viewfinder.
This camera was 20 years in advance on Leica m3.
The loading is done by the back which opens totally. Two keys close the back. The loading is not thus done by the sole as on Leica.
The production continued until 1944. The Russians be served at the end of the war, to make Kiev 4 of it.
Some rare models come out the factory ZEISS of Iena. in 1946
