Foca Universel

Traduction de Larry Huffman, le 30 janvier 2005

OPL launched the first "Universel" in 1948.

All Universel models are rangefinder cameras with bayonet mount interchangeable lenses, allowing rapid lens change. They are all of a high technical quality, both optically and mechanically. The available range of lenses and accessories was large. All the lenses were rangefinder-coupled. The method of mounting the lens is different than that which I explained on the Foca ** (2 stars) page. The locking button of the lens in position ° hides another button which it is necessary to push (with right-hand finger) while turning the lens (with left hand) as though one wanted to go underneath a yardstick. This is a bayonet mount, so be careful that the lens does not fall. In order to remount the lens, it is first necessary to align the two red dots on the camera body and on the lens, and then reverse the procedure. A multi-focal finder can be mounted in the accessory shoe, facilitating composition of the picture. The slow speeds (T, 1, 2, 5, 10, 25) are separated from the high speeds (B, 25, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000).
