Chronology of cameras Houghton

The Ensign Double 8 has been probably designed by the Swedish designer Magnus Niell as the Ensignette or the Ensign Midget with which it shares many ideas. It has a focusing system, an adjustment of shutter speeds and apertures and a metal depth of field table engraved on the back. The tiny viewfinder is orientable. The trigger is above the lens behind the front plate.
The decor is stylish with a neat facade, a covering made of fabric patterned with a false perspective and a curious nickel plated locking mechanism. A true embossed leather pouch helps protecting the camera after it has been folded (Double 8 is then 2 cm thick).
