Chronology of cameras Mackenstein
History of the brand Mackenstein New window

This jumelle camera No 629 bears all the identifications of the brand and its magazine receives 9 x 12 cm plates.
The lens CP Goerz No. 47666 allows to estimate the date of manufacture towards 1900-1901.

What differentiates it from the  "jumelles réduitesdescribed elsewhere, is the speed pneumatically adjusted of the shutter:

  • Arming is done by retracting the rod of a single acting piston cylinder, attached to the guillotine  shutter.
  • When triggered, the cylinder is released from pressing the top left button. The hole below the button allows to connect a cable release.
  • The air admission into the cylinder chamber is controlled by a small hole in a hub disposed at the end of the cylinder. It comprises five different diameter holes and a position P without hole.

The knurled knob on the side allows to move the front and therefore to adjust the distance. The distance is indicated on a graduated scale located in front of the viewfinder.
