Chronology of cameras Carena
There are at least two variants of this model. The other one has the metal parts of the hood painted white. It is mainly of interest for identification purposes because "Cosinon" is inscribed around the lens, which informs us about the origin of this Carena. Our black variant does not bear this inscription. On the edge of the lens mount, it is inscribed 38 mm F:2.7-EE, but not the lens brand.
Exposure control is fully programmed. Once the sensitivity is set, the meter determines the required shutter speed/aperture combination. It is indicated in the viewfinder by a dual scale located on the right.
Flash photography is facilitated by the Flashmatic system. By disengaging the automatic exposure mode selection ring, it is possible to select the guide number of the flash connected to the camera. The distance ring is then coupled with the guide number ring. Rotating the distance ring is only possible between two distance limits that provide correct exposure. Within these limits, changing the focus distance determines the aperture, while the shutter speed remains fixed at 1/25.
This compact rangefinder is sturdy, made entirely of metal. A glass protects the lens and the cell lens. It is easy to use. Its focal length and aperture allow for a wide range of applications. Exposure memory by half-pressing the shutter button is a plus.
