Balda Appareil à Plaque

Traduction de Geoffroy GUILLON

This 9x12 folding plate camera is made of aluminium and bears no marking or plate. It is a francization probably intended for a distributor, but on a closer look one can identify some features of Balda cameras. For instance, the fixing points of the handle on the body are the same as on Balda’s small view cameras. In both cases, a spirit level is attached to the finder.

The lens board has a specific shape and the way the tilting finder is fitted is uncommon in Balda’s production. It can be found on the Venus, but that is a 6.5 x 9. It also resembles the Balda-Kamera n°3, which is a 9 x 12, but the lens board seems different.

Oddly enough, the big folding finder is mounted upside down.
