Korner et Mayer Cewes

Körner & Mayer in Sontheim, a suburb of the city of Heilbronn in Southern Germany (Süddeutsche Kamerawerke Körner & Mayer, Sontheim-Heilbronn) is the origin of the brand Nettel whose name was officially created in 1909.

In fact, from 1902 to 1909, the first cameras were marked with the brand K & M.

One of the first cameras, if not the first one, was this Cewes on which we already find the famous cross struts that were the hallmark of Nettel.

At this time, Nettel was only the brand used for the lens of these cameras. Here, it is a Nettel Aristo Rapid Aplanat 140 mm opening at f8.

The few sources of information for this device are stating a 9 x 12 cm format but I found inside this folding an Agfa film marked E 6 8 x 10.5, which would be the type 118

The distance setting is particularly original because it does not rely on the usual system found on these strut camera from Nettel, but on a kind of rotating lever located near the typical Nettel viewfinder running on a disk showingg numerous small holes for the locking of the  setting.

This is a very original and particularly rare camera.
