Lachaize Ms-70

Compared with the MS-35, there is no doubt to attribute this camera to Lachaize, and as a confirmation, MS-70 is marked on the back.

This camera evokes the Perfo 608, but uses a charger for the 70 mm unperforated film which is not commercially available. A switch selects the image lengths of 65, 60, 55, 50, 45, 40, 35 and 30 mm by moving an internal mask, This automatically changes the film advance. This advance is done by using the large lever arm which also cock the shutter which is released through an electromagnetic mechanism. A small lever arm also allows to cock the shutter without winding the film. An indicator lets you know that the shutter is cocked. The shutter is guillotine type with two metal blades.
The lens is that of an enlarger, which is quite suitable for reproduction works. "Boyer Paris Saphir 1:4,5 F = 135 No 423417". Diaphragms: 4.5, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 23.
The focusing is done through a large helical with six marks A, B, C, D, E and F.
Two Congres type threads allow for installation on a stand.
The electromagnetic trigger is reminiscent of the system used by Paul Lachaize on reporting cameras for flash synchronization. In the case of these microfilm cameras, it is likely that the shooting was done using the flash, the shutter having a single speed only.
