Hanimex VEF

The VEF is designed to be used with the little VEF flash. Two batteries in the camera power the flash, but the camera is fully functional without batteries and flash. The connection between the camera and flash is unique and prevents the use of another flash.

The camera has an supplementary close up lens. When the wide angle is in use a yellow pointer is in the left of the viewfinder, and when the close up is used a red pointer appears in the right of the viewfinder. In close mode the shooting distance is 35 cm-45 cm measured with the carry cord. A moving circle in the centre of the viewfinder helps to make a crude correction for parallax.

Depth of field tables suggest that a 20 mm lens at F4 could have acceptable focus from about 100 cm - infinity (circle of confusion 0.05mm) Note that this camera was designed for film of about 100 ASA in daylight because of the restricted speed/aperture range. Faster films could be used, but would require adjustment of the apertures/flash distance and would risk over exposure.
