Chronology of cameras Sears
History of the brand Sears New window

Sears being like our French Manufrance, a distributor, Tower Stereo was therefore made by Iloca  in Germany, which was largely inspired on the design of the "Realist"  from the David White Company, very popular in the 50s : each view has a width corresponding to 5 perforations of the film  (23 mm), with a 70 mm spacing between the lens. You can also find the same device under its original name: Stereo Iloca IIa, which is a Stereo II with chrome front!
The viewfinder, located between the two lens, but at the bottom of the body, is also reminiscent of the Stereo Realist. Photographers with a a nasal appendage outside the norm  will appreciate! The others will be somewhat surprised by this unusual arrangement ...

All adjustments are made in front: two big toothed rings around the lens are coupled and control the speed setting from 1 second to 1/300 or B exposure. The diaphragms are set by the small red lever between the lens. Coloured marks suggest the most appropriate settings for the lighting conditions: bright (clear weather) red F: 8, hazy (overcast) yellow to F: 5.6, dull (dark) in green until F: 4, and we find  these same colours on speeds: 1:25 green, yellow and red at 1:50 ... You better not be colorblind!
The focusing finally is through the dial in the center of the front face, either through the indications scenes, groups, close-ups, either by setting the distance in feet.
The instructions for loading the film are listed inside the housing, those regarding the progress of the film to frame # 1 and shooting are under the base of the camera.
