Kodak Retinette

The mother of all Retinette!

The type 147 is the first model in a series that will last until the end of the 60'. Built just before the start of the Second World War, it is rare. About 20,000 copies were built during the year of existence. We find on this model some features that will disappear on the following models, such as the horizontal bed or the rounded shape of the prominence of the front which allows for a flat bed. In the following models and on Retina, the camera body is flat and it is the flap which has a raised form to protect the optical unit.

Some metal parts are painted black, but the wear discovers the original color of the metal. For the body, it is perhaps aluminum, but the bed rusting, it cannot be made of this metal. The plate supporting the lens block is chromium plated and beautifully striated vertically. The shutter trim is polished. The shutter, manufactured by AGC is a Kodak K3, offering three speeds: 1/25, 1/50 and 1/100, plus the bulb exposure B.

On this specimen, I have not been able to cock and release the shutter, linkage having suffered.

Its serial number, visible inside the dorsal door is 296671K.
