Zeiss Ikon Box Tengor

Traduction de Olivier Ciesielski

Box TENGOR was the name given by ZEISS to some parts of its Box built before WWII. No model name but only a number. The name ZEISS IKON is displayed below or up front of the lens.
To find the name ‘Box TENGOR’ and its number you will have to look at the back of the camera. Unfortunately it can be very difficult to see them as some models have leather and then the information only appear in relief.

This version 54/2 (1928-1934) is a 6 x 9 using 120 photography skin. The lens is a GOERZ FRONTAR opening at 11. There is no diaphragm but the upper pull called ‘blender’ extend to a metal strip dealing with 2 holes that comes behind the lens. This corresponds to a f:18 and a f:25 aperture. Between this pull and the base of the handle there is another pull called ‘Meter’ and is showing 2 entries “Gr. 4m” and “Port. 1m”. This one is used to set 2 different lens behind the lens.

Last but not least there is one last pull on the left hand of the camera, this one is used to select between Instant (pull is up) and time exposure.
