True Quasimodo, with its bump in the back… and often appearing like dirty because of the blackening of its aluminum.

Mercury left in 1938. Model II goes back to 1945. Its principal difference compared to the initial models, it is that it uses a standard 35 mm film, whereas before the film was one homemade 35 mm , the Universal No 200. All the models of Mercury make it possible to make 65 photographs on a film.

The other common point to the series and which explains this embossing is the recourse to a rotary shutter. This hemispherical form makes it possible to display a depths of field table (for openings 2 and 2,7 with the back and from 3,5 to 16 front).

The film advanceand the winding of the shutter are done while turning the button of left which itself made turn the small counter to which it is connected.

On the former models, it is the base of this button which supports the meter of sights. The button of right-hand side makes it possible to choose the shutter speed (20 secondes with 1/1000 secondes). To regulate the distance, it is necessary to turn the large ring at the base of the lens. The graduations of distance are in feet.

The lens is Tricor 2,7/35 mm.
