Le Contina Ia (526/24) remplace le Contina (522/24) à partir de mars 1955. Par la suite, il subira plusieurs modifications, parfois sur une courte période. Dés août 1955, la face avant est d'ailleurs revue, et la prise synchro passe du fût de l'objectif à la plaque entourant la base de l'objectif. L'objectif changera également un peu plus tard pour un Novicar.
