Chronology of cameras Anschütz
Ottomar Anschütz (1846-1907), a German photographer and inventor, was a pioneer in chronophotography (alongside Marey in France and Muybridge in Great Britain) and a significant precursor to cinema. He notably invented the first shutter allowing snapshots with a thousandth of a second. A focal plane shutter bearing his name was used, starting in 1892 and improved in 1905 until 1928, in cameras manufactured by C.P. Goerz and named Anschütz or Ango (a contraction of Anschütz and Goerz).
Well-known in Germany for his earlier works and inventions, his name was used by a company in Berlin as a brand to sell photographic equipment.
In fact, this folding camera was produced by Dr. Krugener and is a Halloh Simplex, a simplified version of the Halloh covered in pegamoid rather than leather. Like all Halloh cameras, the back of the device allows for capturing photographs in both 8 x 10.5 cm format on film and on 9 x 12 cm plates.
Two plates, one on the side of the camera and one inside, display the Ottomar Anschütz brand.
On this particular unit, the bright viewfinder is not the original one, which had a small spirit level.
