Agfa Paramat

Traduction de Sylvain Halgand

Paramat was presented at Photokina of 1963. There exists in two variants. That presented here at the part before lens chrome, but there is one with the entirely black front face. The top of the camera is always chrome.

Paramat belongs to the series of Parat (see the Optima-Parat) whose characteristic is to be one 18 X 24 on film 35 mm They are contemporary their Asian competitors, Pen of Olympus.
Paramat has only one speed, the 1/125 seconde. A cell controls the exposure. On the left side of the camera, a cursor makes it possible to choose between this automatism or the exposure or the recourse to the flash. A second cursor makes it possible to choose the aperture. Two small windows bored in the front face of the lens present the consecutive choices at the use of these two cursors. When the cursor of left is positioned in A (for automatic), the cursor of right-hand side is automatically brought on a neutral position and the small window posts a point in the place of the figure of an aperture. When the shutter release is engaged with mid- race, a visible red indicator in the finder passes to the green if the camera is armed, except in the event of superposition. The finder is with brilliant lines.
A button marked R located above the camera allows the superpositions.

The setting of the distance is done while turning the chrome flange around the lens (Apotar 2,8/30 mm). It is possible to be located either according to three pictograms (portrait, group, landscape) or according to a stepladder meters/feet. The setting of the distance is far from practical, because the ring exceeds very little and is difficult to seize for fingers roved like mine. In a general way, the settings available around the lens are far from ergonomic.

This camera is not very current. Its small size, its very good quality of manufacture, its ease of employment should however have ensured a better commercial success to him.
