Chronology of cameras Nikon
The Nikon U is the Japanese market dedicated version of the Nikon F65D (F65 fitted with a data imprint feature back).
The Nikon U was offered in kits including one or two lenses:
- Nikon AF Nikkor 28-80 mm f1:3.3-5.6 G. The Nikon U was the first camera to benefit from this trans-standard zoom specially designed for the Nikon kits of the 2000s.
- Nikon AF Nikkor 70-300 mm f1:4-5.6 G (for kits with two lenses)
According to the user manual, the ML-L3 remote control was systematically supplied with the Nikon U body.
The Nikon Us / U / U2 intended for the Japanese market seem to have only existed with the data imprint feature and therefore correspond respectively to the N55QD / N65QD / N75QD (*) intended for the US market and to the F55D / F65D / F75D for the rest of the world.
The standard Nikon U only exists in silver (champagne) finish unlike the F65D which exists in silver or black finish.
However a special series "Nikon U Agnès b." has existed, only in black finish and without the data imprint feature back.
(*) QD = Quartz Date
