Yashica Y16

This orange and cream version is marked "With compliments from Broons". Manufacturers of these cameras designed individual film cassettes, which were sold in a restricted range of films, and only available from camera shops* (or you could cut any 120 film into eight 15 mm strips in a darkroom and load your own!)

This camera is remarkably heavy, suggesting that it is not made of aluminum. The "S" setting opens the shutter when it is pushed half way but doesn't close it again until the release is pushed the whole way. This allows it to be used for short or very long exposures.

*This problem was solved 12 years later when Kodak launched its standard 110 format cassette which was very similar (but not identical) to Minolta's.
