Chronology of cameras De Vries
The "Gousset" was sold in 1916, as witnessed by some advertisements . We learn from them that there were two different models of this device: the No. 1 and No. 2 .
Both are of similar construction . Which means that they are small folding devices. They are made of cardboard covered with leather, with a single fold leather bellows. Rigidity is ensured by two internal metal struts that must be unfolded with the fingertips . They are both with 4.5 x 6 cm format . Frosted rhodoïd takes place in the rear slide and allows to frame . Then , a metallic film holder is to be inserted in place of the rhodoïd .
No. 1 is distinguished by a shutter allowing for the snapshot only , while the No. 2 allows the for the time ewposure and a "fast" speed. In the case of the No. 2 , the lens is improved.
In 1916, No. 1 was sold 9.75 francs and No. 2 , 14.25 francs.
In an advertisement dated 1916 , the "military" argument is widely used , the same as what did other brands like Kodak with the Vest Pocket .
