Chronology of cameras Yashica
History of the brand Yashica New window

Traduction de Manuel M

Contemporary of its brother, the Yashica J-5, it strongly resembles to him.

It is a reflex camera receiving the lenses 42 mm with screw. It is equipped here with a Yashinon of 50 mm open to 1: 2.

On the top of the body, on the right, is an exposure meter supplied with a mercury battery, which allows the use of films of which the sensitivity lies between 12 and 800 ASA. The window of reading is straight. This photographic exposure meter is not coupled with the lens, it is thus necessary to report couple speed/diaphragm chosen with the hand.
On the left, after the reference mark of the film plane, one finds the selector speeds of the shutter, it allows a choice between the ½ second and the 1/500 second, then comes the lever of advance of film and cocking with his concentric exposure counter, and then the shutter release.

On the front face of the body, on the right, on the side of the plate receiving the lens: two synchro flash sockets (FP and X), on the left, the lever of the self-timer and its associated button to put it in action once cocked. Let us note that the lens is equipped with a lever allowing the closing of the diaphragm at the selected aperture to appreciate the depth of field.
