Sem Semflash 4,5 couplé

Traduction de C. Akgungor.

SEM initially designed Semflash as a camera that would be distributed to photo studios so these latter could rent them to their customers. This approach may sound surprising nowadays, but it should be known that at that time, cameras with integrated electronic flash simply didn't exist. The interior photography was a "headache" because it was necessary to manage the stock of flash bulbs, the number-guide and other adjustments in the same time. The adjustments of the camera were thus extremely simplified. For example, it has only 1/50 shutter speed.
Intended for the interior use, the unit had to be connected on an electrical connector. A transformer is located between the camera and the flash. On the first models, the transformer was not integrated in the flash, but it was in the power connector.

The unit was rented in a specific case, marked “Semflash”. The instructions are very simplified and integrated into the lid of the case.

There were several models of Semflash; some intended for the hiring, others, more recent, with the sale.
