Chronology of cameras allorgan

The Allorgan SE-1G is essentially a Cosina CT-1 A (not a CT-1 G, as one might think). Here's the backstory of this camera, whose name is written in lowercase, as per the brand's identity (on both the body and the lens).

The camera, acquired from a friend (originally belonging to their father), proved challenging to identify, as the brand was nearly absent on the internet concerning cameras. Two small screws were discovered on either side of the prism. The name "Allorgan" is written in white on a black plate, which, when removed, revealed the true manufacturer of this basic reflex camera: Cosina.

Regarding the Allorgan brand, it seems it belonged to the American import-export group Sherwood - Inkel Corporation, a company that had various equipment manufactured by others and sold under its name. The camera, however, was purchased in Switzerland, and it's possible that the importation was handled by Radio TV Steiner SA, a distributor that no longer exists.

As for the camera itself, it is a robustly built reflex camera, albeit lacking features like depth of field testing, memory of light meter readings, or DX coding. In today's terms, it would be described as a very basic model. Nevertheless, it's likely a great camera for someone learning to shoot film photography.

The Allorgan lens, manufactured in Japan, is essentially a Cosina 28-70 mm 1:4 lens (fixed aperture), MC (multicoated), with Macro capabilities (up to 10 cm), a 62 mm filter diameter, and a Pentax K mount.

One last distinctive feature is the memo label holder on the back, which provides a comprehensive DIN-ASA (ISO) comparison table, from DIN 15 to DIN 36.
