Chronology of cameras Voigtlander
Traduction de Manuel M
The Voigtländer Virtus (Latin Virtue) is a small pleasant folding camera of format 4.5 x 6 cm produced from 1933 to 1935.
It belongs to the family of Voigtländer Perkeo, Prominent and Inos of this period easily recognizable to their openwork serrated rollers, and their braided leather belt, absent on the camera presented.
It was the first camera with being equipped with an optical view finder correcting the parallax automatically, coupled with the adjustment of the focusing. This one can be carried out by the central lateral serrated roller before opening the camera.
It is decorated with the Voigtländer badge representing a “V” on bottom two-tone blue/yellow, also well/equally] present on the models “Brillant” and “Superb” of the brand.
The opening of the back is carried out by pinching of two lateral claws. The back is equipped with a table of depth of field and two inactinic windows for the numbers of exposures, protected by two trap doors with spring, engraved of the letter “V”.
Some Virtus has their crutch positioned in the centre of the flap, instead of being on the side like this one, and do not have trap doors to mask the inactinic windows.
According to the versions it could be provided with a shutter Compur, or Embezet and lenses Skopar 4.5 or Héliar 3.5
The specimen presented is provided with a lens Skopar 3.5 of 75 mm focal distance and with a shutter Compur offering the pose B, T and speeds from of 1 s until the 1/250 s.
Voigtländer started again the name of Virtus for digital cameras, but any risk which you confuse the two models…
