Chronology of cameras Fex Indo

Available from 1967 to 1980, the Impera exceeded 1,500,000 units. With a 4 x 4 cm format on 127 film, it was intended for the youth market, emphasizing low cost, simplicity, and reliability.
It is the successor to the Fex Pack-Matic but is not disposable. More complex, the Impera is composed of twenty-two pieces instead of the nine in the Pack-Matic.

The early models had some metal parts taken from the Ultra-Fex, but starting from 1968, plastic took over. From 1961 to 1972, Paul Lachaize worked for Fex, bringing his experience in plastics acquired with the Mécilux.

Common technical features include: a removable body and back in black polystyrene, opening with two sliding locks, a plastic meniscus lens with fixed focus from 1.5 m to infinity, a single speed, no aperture, film advancement by button and red window, a sector shutter, and a trigger made of two plastic pieces (Delrin). There is no protection against double exposures, no tripod nut, and no flash synchronization. The synchronized model is the Aptika.

Some units are marked "127" on the front face.

Collectors can distinguish three generations based on slight variations in the camera, but the numerous variations primarily arise from the decoration on the front and advertising inscriptions. In some variants, the advertising markings are on the front rather than above the camera.
