Mazo Cyclist

This "Cyclist" manufactured by Mazo does not show any identification, perhaps because it was sold to another distributor. (This copy is from Vevey, Switzerland.)
It is a folding plate camera, but the bed is limited to a nickel-plated brass frame. This frame has notches in which the two claws of the lens holder plate are clipped. There are two notches on the front and two on the back, which allows an extension of the bellows between 25 and 260 mm, thanks to a rack and pinion system that extends over the entire length.
This allows the use of wide angles and long focal lengths, but also the use in stereoscopy. The width of the plate is provided for, and an internal separation may be added to divide the body into two chambers.
The shutter is not signed, it is a simple drilled disc rotating in the optical center. It is operated by an internal spring and has only one speed, plus the time exposure, necessary for the focus. A disc with five holes adjusts the aperture.
The camera is made of varnished, walnut with dovetail joints. The ground glass holder is fixed by hinges.
Given its destination, lightness has been privileged, but without sacrificing quality. The absence of viewfinder and the two tripod Congress nuts clearly make it a tripod camera.
