Avant d'être absorbée par Rochester Optical en 1899, Monroe Camera and Co produisit des Klapp de différents formats. Ce Monroe n°A est un Klapp pour plaque 3 1/4 x 4 1/4. Nous avons aussi sur le site le Klapp Monroe n°2 en format 6,5 x 9.
Ces klapps ont été dessiné par Silas French. Il a déposé avec Albert Beir, co-fondateur et vice-président de Monroe, un brevet pour ce type de klapp en 1897.
