Les Ensign Carbine ont d'abord été construits par Butcher, et ensuite par Houghto,n après la fusion des marques en 1926.

Initialement construits pour pellicules seulement, ils ont souvent évolués vers des appareils mixtes pellicule/plaque.

Il s'agit là d'un folding pour pellicule 6 x 9, dit "de poche" alors qu'il parait de bonne taille et pèse 750 grammes.
