Argus C3

Traduction de Sylvain Halgand

In History of the United States, there is George Washington, the Colt Frontier , the carriage… and the brick.
When I say “brick” or more exactly “The brick”, I use the popular denomination of this rectangular camera weighting nearly 900 grams, whose true name is “C3”.

It was a model of longevity, since it was present on the market of 1939 at 1966. Other models of the series shouldered it (C3 Matchmatic, C4 etc.) but none was a similar success.

The brick is common in the United States, rather rare in Europe, but the day when you will see one of them on a market, no doubt, which your glance will cling to it.

Argus C3 is an evolution of C2.

Above, the one of the two principal types of C 3 from the post-war period, but for one as for the other, many variants exist (Argus plate, the shape of the button of shutter release, forms button of winding, color of the viewfinding of the rangefinder, decoration of the back, numbers screw on the hinge of the back, lens forms , spreading of the apertures and distances etc… etc.)
