Chronology of cameras Sunpet Industries

Sunpet Industries Company was established in Hong Kong in 1972 and became Sunpet Industries Limited in 1980. The current factory was set up in Guangzhou in 1983. Sunpet was the first manufacturer in Hong Kong to install machinery for the production of plastic aspherical lenses in 1994.

The exact date of the first production of this model is not known, but it's possible that it has been in production for some time. It is a very simple device with a shutter speed and aperture, but there are many versions of it. It was sold or offered as a promotional item under the manufacturer's name. It was manufactured in black, silver, bright red, magenta, pink, blue, and yellow (and possibly more).

It is also known by many names and sometimes without any name at all.

__________

Okaido was a trademark of International Reports Publishing of Hackensack New Jersey. The first use of the brand was in February 1990; the registration expired in 1997. It is a brand found on a small number of very cheap cameras. This one is an essay in very shiny black plastic.

The GX-800 has no adjustments, therefore it must be "automatic"(?) The film plane is curved suggesting a meniscus lens; the use of the word "quartz" suggests that the lens might be glass. It is probably not a 35 mm, the actual distance from the lens to the film plane is only about 30 mm. The shutter will not operate when the cover is over the lens. It is very similar to the Altic, Fun Banana and Malabar.
