Chronology of cameras Leica
Traduction de Christian Surle.
The R8 design is a complete change compared with the very conventional previous Leica’s, either reflex or rangefinder ones. Everything has been reviewed to facilitate the camera’s use. Ergonomics implied to exaggerate some shapes, as well as it was made for plastic compact cameras. The difference in the improvement leading to the R8 is that there is no auto-focusing nor automatic exposure (however widespread in 1997). The shape modification was bolder than that was made for the previous eleven years concerning Colani’s work on Canon T90. The shapes that were typical were abandoned here. The bump above the prism has quite disappeared. So, after having been surprised by this discovery, you can realize that there is still a manual setting lens, a rewind crank and also a fast transport lever, etc.
This body won many prizes thanks to its design.
