The Baby-Box 54/18 E is an improved version of the Baby-Box 54/18 A. The Novar lens opens at f / 6.3, which makes it much brighter than the Frontar 11/5 cm of the other version. The Novar is a Triplet, while the Frontar consists of only two elements. The focus may be adjusted (1, 2, 4, infinity + hyperfocal mark with a red dot).
Appeared in 1931, this version had a fairly short lifespan, and seems to disappear in 1932. Like the second version of the 54/18 A, it has the front face with the hexagonal metal part. There is a speed selector (I, B, T) at the top of this hexagon, and the possibility of choosing one of the three apertures by a cursor placed at the bottom of the metal part.
By consulting the pages of the Photo-Plait catalogs, you will see the enormous price difference induced by this improvement.
