Chronology of cameras Cimo

Completely invested in the development of the Semflex, Paul Royet had entrusted the assembly of the Orénac to Mr. Faivre, his former Technical Director, who had to leave Aurec for Lons-le-Saunier due to family reasons. Every week, they would meet in a restaurant in Dombes, halfway between their locations, and exchange a crate of spare parts for a crate of assembled Orénacs.

One day, Mr. Faivre explained to Paul Royet that, with the help of a brother-in-law (who worked at Angénieux), they had adapted a rangefinder to the Orénac and presented him with the prototype marked L 235. Mr. Royet told him that the focus of Sem was the development of the 6x6, that this was his personal work, and that he could market it under his name, using Sem's distribution network.

This would become CIMO (Compagnie Industrielle de Mécanique et d'Optique), but unfortunately, Mr. Faivre passed away a few months later, on January 2, 1960.

The Cimo model No. 571136 has a chrome ring at the base of the lens. The rangefinder viewfinder is separate from the framing viewfinder.
