Chronology of cameras Plavic
The Plavic Pliant 6 x 9, Deluxe Model, is a black enamel metal folding camera. It is covered in leather and has a leather bellows. The front cover is made of black-varnished aluminum.
The lens board has a U-shaped design. As seen in the catalogue illustrations, there is a micrometric screw that allows for vertical decentering adjustment.
The film to be used is the 120 format, which is coded as 19 by Plavic.
Due to the various combinations of lenses and shutters, it is a limited series that is produced:
Ref. | Shutter | Lens |
A 220 | Plavico B (1/100) | Plavic 6,3/105 mm |
A 221 | Compur (1/250) | Flor Berthiot 4,5/105 mm |
A 222 | Compur (1/250) | Trianar-Krauss 6,3 |
A 223 | Compur (1/250) | Trianar-Krauss 4,5 |
A 224 | Compur (1/250) | Zeiss Krauss Tessar 4,5 |
Plavic's presence can be traced back to the 1919 Photo-Plait catalog. It wasn't a camera manufacturer but rather specialized in producing film rolls and "film blocks." The manufacturer's name was the Société des Celluloses Planchon based in Lyon. Their production was limited to the cellulose base, as the emulsions were sourced from Lumière.
The Plavic Film company was established in June 1927 and, in an effort to diversify, decided to market cameras under the Plavic and Plavico brand names.
This company ceased to exist on December 31, 1930. It was fully absorbed by the Lumière company.
