Wittnauer est un fabricant de montres qui s'est transformé parallèlement en distributeur d'appareils photo. Les appareils étaient fabriqués par de grandes marques, souvent Braun. Le Scout est un Braun Gloriette.
L'appareil n'a pas grand chose d'original dans le contexte de la production photographique allemande du moment. Il est assez proche des Silette d'Agfa ou de l'Iloca Quick.
