Chronology of cameras Cosina
The Cosina 4000S is a simple SLR camera that was overshadowed during its release by the prominent models of the time, such as the Canon AE-1 or the Minolta SRT. It uses M42 screw-mount lenses, a mount highly favored by Cosina, providing the advantage of universality compared to lenses from some "major" brands.
To manage exposure, one must press the shutter button halfway. The light meter is then activated, and the aperture is set to the value indicated on the lens. A needle moves in the viewfinder between a + and a - depending on the selected shutter speed and aperture. The + indicates overexposure, the - underexposure. The ideal exposure is achieved when the needle is midway between the two marks. The viewfinder darkens or brightens according to the settings. A button near the self-timer lever allows adjusting the lens to its maximum aperture for a clear view.
The focusing is facilitated by a microprism ring, without a split-image rangefinder.
