Chronology of cameras Universal

In 1950, after the release of the first Polaroid cameras and new stereo cameras, sales of Universal cameras dropped rapidly, and the staff was reduced by 80%.

In 1951, Universal had significant stocks of spare parts for various cameras in its range and decided to launch the Vitar, of which the only new part was the identification plate. The body and back made of bakelite, the retractable lens barrel were from the Buccaneer, the viewfinder with its shoe and extinction meter came from the Meteor, and the lens and shutter from the Uniflex and other cameras.

The Vitar is a 24 x 36 equipped with a Tricor 3.5/50 mm lens mounted on a retractable tube by rotating the distance ring, with a minimum focusing distance of 3 feet.

For Universal, the adventure ended in 1951. Therefore, the production of the Vitar was limited.
