Chronology of cameras Gnome

In 1947, the British Journal Almanac only featured one advertisement for Gnome, touting the merits of a portable 35mm enlarger called Universum, and a more conventional enlarger, the No.12.
The company Gnome, whose full name is Gnome Photographic Products Limited, was then located at 21a Working Street, Cardiff, Wales. The company description was accompanied by "Manufacturers of Photographic Equipment", but there was no mention of a camera.

In 1949, the brand splurged on a double-page advertisement in the same almanac. The enlargers presented were more numerous and were accompanied by film advance devices and contact printers. The address had changed to 354 Caerphilly Road, Cardiff. Still no mention of a camera.
In 1951, there were two pages of advertisements. One featured the enlargers, while the other presented three cameras: the Pixieflex, the Pixie, and the Baby Pixie. It can be inferred that these three models were released either in 1950 or early 1951.

The Pixie and the Baby Pixie were metal box cameras using 620 film. The first allowed for 12 negatives of 6 x 6 cm, while the latter provided 16 in the 4.5 x 6 format. Both had a folding viewfinder.
The Pixieflex was a pseudo-TLR, as there was no focusing. It was very simple, with no adjustments except for choosing between Instantaneous and Time exposure modes.

In the 1954 almanac, the three cameras had disappeared from the advertisements. Only enlargers and accessories remained.

The 1949 Pixie (model I) is characterized by its shutter release in the front right corner and its speckled black paint.
