Chronology of cameras Certo
Small details such as the model name engraved below the lens mount, the distance scale plate, the horizontal shift knob, the black lacquered finish of the ground glass frame, and the embossed Certo emblem on the leather all contribute to giving the Certotrop a beautiful finish.
This camera was produced starting from 1927 in 6.5 x 9, 9 x 12, or 10 x 15 cm formats. It strongly resembles the Voigtländer Bergheil. The main feature, like the latter, is the interchangeability of the lens-shutter assembly, mounted on a bayonet, although the operation may seem less smooth. It also allows vertical and horizontal shifts via knobs with markings.
The 6.5 x 9 model presented dates back to 1933 and is equipped with a very bright Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar lens of 2.9/105 mm, mounted on a Compur shutter offering B and T modes, and speeds from 1 to 1/200.
The Certotrop was also distributed in the United States under the name Bee Bee by the distributor Burleigh Brooks (hence the initials... B B!).
There was also the Certotrop Luxus with a body covered in brown leather, just like the bellows.
