Chronology of cameras Canon
The Demi series comprises cameras using 135 film but producing 18 x 24mm negatives. Only the Demi Rapid is an exception as it uses 35mm film but in Rapid cartridges.
The lenses are bright. Their focal length is 28 or 30mm, which is the standard focal length in half-frame format. The Demi C has interchangeable lenses; a 50mm lens (equiv. to 100mm) can replace the standard lens.

Released in February 1963 to compete with the Olympus Pen, the Canon Demi is a half-frame compact camera (18 x 24 mm negatives on 35 mm film) with an integrated light meter. Initially available in black, it later came in red, white, and blue (the Color Demi model, which was less common).
The lens is a 28 mm with an aperture of f/2.8 (five elements in three groups). Shutter speeds range from 1/30 to 1/250, plus a B (bulb) setting, but they are fully coupled with the apertures: the adjustment ring changes both the speed and the aperture, and it is not possible to select the two parameters separately, except when using flash photography, where the exposure ring is positioned on a small red lightning bolt, allowing aperture selection via a slider on the lens front.
Exposure adjustment is made by aligning an orange needle with the exposure ring, with a fine needle linked to the light meter.
There is no rangefinder on the Demi; focusing is done manually using a distance scale on the back of the camera.
