L'IS-2000 est une amélioration de l'IS-1000, au niveau du mode macro, qui devient très performant, et de la rapidité de l'autofocus. Les autres caractéristiques restent celles de l'IS-1000.
La fabrication de l'optique fait appel à du verre ED, de haute qualité.
