This camera dated 1910 is the previous brother of the Taro-Tenax modèle II.
As it, is a folding plate with double extension bellow. Three formats were available: 9 x 12 cm, 10 x 15 cm and 13 x 18 cm. The present model is a 10 x15 cm.

It is equipped with an Goerz lens, a Dagor (Doppel Anastigmat GOeRz serie III) f/6.8, 168 mm. This lens, a symmetric anastigmat with six elements in two groups, could be transformed into telephoto lens by removal of the front group of lenses. The focal distance were almost doubled, but the aperture reduced by half (f :13 approximately).
Manufok-Tenax could be also delivered with the other objectives of the brand as Syntor (f: 6,8) or Celor (f: 4,8)

The diaphragm scale extends from 4,8 to 384.
The shutter is a Compur Compound offering B, T, 1s to 1/200ème speeds.
In spite of its hundred-years-old age, it always works impeccably.

The chrome-plated (or nickel-plated?) viewfinder engraved with by the brand Goerz is very elegant and take a certain distinction to this device. The metallic veneer of the viewfinder spent time, without any damage too. The quality was here! This viewfinder  also equipped some Taro’s.

As the Taro-Tenax, between the rails of the bellows, also represent an added motive, but this one is constituted by the name GOERZ. Curiously, the manufacturer pushed the detail until represent a point after the name there. Passion of the detail or hidden reason ?

The resemblance between Manufok-Tenax and Taro-Tenax, added to the fact that advertisements mentioned often only the name Tenax, often involve a confusion between both models. Nevertheless two differences allow to distinguish them: the regulation of the vertical shift is made by thumb wheel on Manufok-Tenax and by control lever on Taro-Tenax, and the nervure of the fork is located outside of this one on Manufok-Tenax, but inside on Taro-Tenax.
