The Kiev IIa was manufactured from 1955 and differs from Kiev II only by the addition of a flash sync socket on the front face.
This camera is dated 1956 as evidenced by the serial number: 56xxxxx.
It could be for export with its dual inscription of the name Kiev in Cyrillic and Latin alphabet and marked "Made in USSR" seen on the flash shoe.
