Chronology of cameras Contessa-Nettel

The Contessa-Nettel Nettix is very small, less bulky and also lighter than an Ica Atom, often considered one of the smallest plate cameras. In a more recent comparison, it is smaller in volume than a Canon Ixus Z-70 APS, with a volume of 21 cm³ compared to 23 cm³.

It is equipped with two viewfinders, the second one (a very small mirror at a 45° angle between two lenses) being hidden behind the circular opening on the right in the image. It is pivoting and folds back on itself when closed (a common system for folding cameras).

Opening the scissors mechanism moves a toothed rod on the top of the camera body, allowing the standard extension necessary for fixed-focus optics. It is still possible to extend the focal length by using the sliding of this rod as a reference (calibration to be done manually). Through the viewfinder, one can approach a subject to about fifty centimeters in almost macro position, whereas normal focus only ensures sharpness from approximately 150 cm from the lens.
