Chronology of cameras Agfa
The Ambi Silette cameras are high-end cameras that use 135 film, with interchangeable lenses and a central shutter with a rangefinder, which is a unique case in Agfa's production.
The viewfinder is protected by a large flap, on which the model name is written. This may sometimes become worn and faded over time. The body of the camera is based on that of the Silette model.
Compatible lenses are few in number and are mounted on the cameras via a bayonet mount. The process of changing lenses is simple and quick. The standard lens that comes with the camera is the Color-Solinar 2.8/50mm. The others include the .

A slider located on the top cover allows the focal length of the lens mounted on the camera to be indicated and the projection of the frame limit in the viewfinder to be modified. Parallax is automatically corrected when each lens is mounted. Note that the 130mm is not taken into account, so a complementary viewfinder corresponding to the width of the field is needed. The camera's viewfinder is large and very bright.
The career of the Ambi Silette was short, as they were only produced from 1957 to 1961. There were only two successive versions. The first dates from 1957, the second from 1959. They can easily be distinguished by the absence or presence of a ring for a strap and by the change in the arrangement of the front window of the rangefinder. __________
This version of the Ambi Silette is the first one released in 1957. The most obvious difference with the second version is the absence of eyelets for the strap, but there is another difference in the shape of the rangefinder window.
The surface treatment of the viewfinder protection cover is very poor, as the brass is often visible.
The Ambi Silette has a small refinement; a sliding plate placed between the base and the lens, which, once deployed, provides additional support to the camera, preventing it from tipping forward when placed down.
