Chronology of cameras Canon
Starting from the late 1950s, Canon expanded its range of rangefinder cameras by manufacturing a new type of camera, the single-lens reflex (SLR), which had previously been overlooked by the brand. Demand grew worldwide, whether from professionals or amateurs. However, Canon had to produce multiple models before offering one that could compete with the leading professional market model, the Nikon F.

__________The Canon FP was a commercial positioning error. Released at the same time as the FX, it was differentiated from this one by the absence of a light meter. Canon quickly released a specific light meter (Canon FP Meter) that could be inserted into the accessory shoe. However, since it made the camera heavy and cumbersome, customers continued to choose the FX.
The FP remains a very good model, still completely usable today. It foreshadowed the FT, with which it bears a striking resemblance.
The FP existed in black. While it is very rare in silver, it is completely unobtainable in black.
