Chronology of cameras Zeh
After Oscar Barnack has set the cat amongst the pigeons in 1925 with the Leica (first "small format" 24 x 36 to meet a real success), several brands tried a fast riposte by launching the "half-formats" cameras using the 127 roll film format. It only required the addition of a second red window on the back of the camera to provide shots approaching 24 x 36 size (eg. the Zeiss Ikon Kolibri and Certo Dolly).
The lens deployment system is quite unusual: the plate supporting the lens is guided by the two struts and the slide on the flap has the sole function of raising it at the end of the deployment.
The locking in unfolded position is released through small buttons ideally placed above the shutter, just under the fingers when closing.
An identical camera exists under the Rodenstock Ysella name.
